A Harry Potter Adventure

Step Into the World of Your Favourite Stories: Discover Your Own Fairy Tale in Scotland's Cinematic Landscapes

Example Itinenary

Day One:

We'll kick off this adventure by departing from Edinburgh and embarking on a journey to the captivating Glencoe. The rugged landscape of Glencoe served as a backdrop for several scenes in the Harry Potter film series, making it a place of great interest for fans of the franchise. The area around Glencoe was used to depict the fictional village of Hogsmeade, the only entirely wizarding village in Britain.

Additionally, in the final two films, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and Part 2," Glencoe's dramatic scenery was used to represent the landscape surrounding the Horcrux cave. This cave is a crucial location in the series where Harry, Ron, and Hermione search for one of Voldemort's Horcruxes.

Our expert guides will also share stories of the area's history, geology, and folklore, adding depth to your experience.

You will then visit the stunning Loch Shiel, the real-world location of Hogwarts' Black Lake. Here, we can arrange for a boat tour that takes you out on the tranquil waters, offering a chance to absorb the majestic beauty of this place. Our guides will share insights into the ecological significance and local legends associated with Loch Shiel.

As the day comes to a close, you'll arrive at your accommodation in Fort William. Enjoy a relaxing evening, perhaps with a delightful dinner at a local restaurant.

Day Two:

Today your adventure continues with a visit to the Glenfinnan Viaduct where you will witness the Jacobite Steam Train, also known as the Hogwarts Express crossing the viaduct. The sight of the train crossing this iconic viaduct is a moment of pure enchantment. We'll make sure you get the best views and photo opportunities to capture this magical experience.

In "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets," the second film of the series, the train crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct on its way to Hogwarts. This iconic moment was revisited in subsequent films, making it a symbol of the wizarding world's connection to the real-world beauty of Scotland.

Loch Eilt is another stunning freshwater loch, featured in the Harry Potter film series. In the movies, it was also used as a location for the fictional Black Lake at Hogwarts.

One of the most memorable moments involving Loch Eilt is the scene where Harry and the other champions had to rescue their loved ones from the depths of the lake, and where they encountered the merfolk. The scenic beauty of Loch Eilt added a magical and mystical atmosphere to these cinematic scenes, and it's no surprise that the location was chosen to bring the world of Harry Potter to life on the big screen.

Eilean na Moine, also known as Dumbledore's Grave, is a small, picturesque island located within Loch Eilt. The island is, indeed, a place of significance for Harry Potter fans. It was used as the filming location for Albus Dumbledore's final resting place in the Harry Potter films.

Upon the completion of this magical adventure, we will guide you on your return journey to either Edinburgh or Glasgow, providing you with some enticing options for additional stops and discoveries along the way.

Absolutely MAGIC!!!

Steven and his Dad, George, were very friendly and accommodating. George was very knowledgeable as was Steven. I would highly recommend Lindsays Highland tours to anyone who wants to leave the driving to someone else and enjoy the beauty of the Highlands.
